WORK SHIFT

SUMMARY OF DUTIES

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS PERFORMED

1. Plans, organizes, mentors, and supervises the work of Supplier Quality Engineers or Technicians on various projects and quality system compliance issues.
2. Establishes, implements, and monitors Global Supplier Quality processes and systems including Nonconformances, SCARs, Audits, Supplier Change Notices, and Supplier Scorecards.
3. Establishes, implements, and monitors Global Incoming Quality Acceptance processes including specifications / procedures, inspection criteria, inspection methods, and inspection sampling (e.g. reduced sampling, CoC/CoA, dock-to-stock).
4. Establishes Supplier and Component classifications utilizing Merit's risk management tools (e.g. dFMEAs, pFMEAs, QRMTs).
5. Creates component risk management tools (cFMEAs) and ensures supplier control plans address risk identified within cFMEAs.
6. Maintains the quality performance metrics and requirements for suppliers.
7. Coordinates the update of Merit documentation to sufficiently describe the products and/or services supplied and the requirements for acceptance.
8. Maintains the selection, approval, and performance evaluation activities needed for suppliers to meet Merit's specified requirements.
9. Supports the type and extent of control to be exercised over suppliers based on risk.
10. Reviews and analyzes data related to supplier approval and performance to specified requirements. Provides reports to management, as appropriate.
11. Maintains records demonstrating that the specified requirements have been met, including supplier approval, evaluation, audits, corrective and preventative actions.
12. Facilitates the supplier change notification process to ensure Merit receives advance notification of proposed changes and approves changes prior to implementation.
13. Utilizes Supplier Corrective Action Requests to resolve supplier performance problems with Purchasing, Engineering and IQA, as appropriate.
14. Supports the handling and resolution of supplier related issues using Merit's risk management process.
15. Reviews supplier systems and core competencies for gaps that may result in poor quality, including in-process and final inspection processes, and evaluates the need for additional controls at the supplier and Merit to ensure quality levels are maintained or improved.
16. Coordinates the supplier audit schedule, conducts on-site supplier audits, and evaluates supplier performance.
17. Reviews Merit's Receiving Inspection activities/plans for raw components/assemblies/materials purchased from suppliers and associated processes and documentation.
18. Presents supplier performance metrics and risk updates to management, as required.
19. Serves as a Merit Quality Liaison for suppliers to ensure effective communication and collaboration between Merit and suppliers.
20. Performs other related duties and tasks as required.

SUMMARY OF MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

* Education and/or experience equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field.
* A minimum of five (5) years of supplier quality and risk management (ISO 14971) experience.
* Must have knowledge of Quality Engineering discipline, including statistics.
* Must be able to manage project schedules and timelines in a cross-functional environment.
* Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.
* Demonstrated computer skills, preferably spreadsheets, word processing, database, and other applicable software programs.
* Supplier quality metrics/agreements/risk mitigation program/reports
* Supplier approval process

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

* FDA regulated environment experience.
* Medical instrumentation experience in a regulated environment (i.e. GMPs, ISO13485, EN46001, etc.
* Supplier and part management experience.
* ASQ Certified Quality Engineer and/or Quality Auditor.

COMMENTS

Infectious Control Risk Category III:

The risk category explains whether or not employees are likely to come into contact with blood or body fluids while performing their jobs. Risk category III states employment and procedures that do not require exposure.
