Job Description

The Sec & Derivatives Sr. Mgr. is a senior management level position responsible for accomplishing results through the management of a team or department in an effort to process orders and transactions originating from trading desks and branch offices in coordination with the Operations - Transaction Services team. The overall objective of this role is to ensure the seamless delivery of securities and derivatives transactions.

Job Purpose:

Organizational Oversight:

Overseeing and leading daily core operations maintaining a culture and environment where processes, risks and controls are continually monitored, and potential risks escalated on a timely basis as well as acting as a senior point of escalation

Developing an effective control framework that fully meets Audit, Compliance and Regulatory requirements; delivery of periodic presentations to external regulators as required

Ensuring the infrastructure and tools are in place to effectively manage risk and service our clients to a high standard

Provide oversight with day to day processing


  • First Level Point of Escalation for production, system, or client related issues
  • Responsible for demonstrating control, minimizing errors and improving team metrics by preventing escalations, reducing breaks/age, and improving client experience
  • Lead projects to push the business forward (business case development, requirements gathering, and UAT)
  • Work closely with manager to execute strategic initiatives
  • Demonstrate leadership by training, mentoring, and guiding junior staff
  • Work with all clients, internal and external, to resolve any issues in a timely fashion
  • Identify inefficiencies in daily tasks and lead improvement(s) in processing productivity and risk mitigation

  • Resolve complex process problems which require an in-depth evaluation of basic securities processing procedures and industry standards
  • Provide guidance and assistance to junior staff
  • Serve as analytical or procedural expert for securities processing deliverables/initiatives
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • BS/BA degree or equivalent work experience preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in Tier 1 global financial institutions
  • Experience delivering strategic change programmes spanning multiple years in a fast paced, large global financial services firm, ideally inan operations organisation
  • Energetic, flexible, collaborative, and proactive; a leader who can positively and productively add product impact to both strategic and tactical technology
  • Strong, influential communicator who is articulate and concise, demonstrated success interacting with senior management both in the business, corporate functions as well as the Operations, Business and Technology environments
  • Strong risk management and control mindset
  • Provides evaluative judgment based on analysis of factual information in complicated, unique and dynamic situations; draws on diverse range of internal and external sources
  • Self-reliant, good problem solver, results oriented
  • Demonstrated experience leading people and developing effective and diverse teams across a global footprint.
  • Ability to establish and build trust with professionals throughout the business as a leader, advisor and business partner to the organization with a clear client orientation.
  • Strong awareness of both external and internal best practice perspectives, maintaining a balanced and fresh viewpoint.
  • Ability to conceptualize aspects of the organizations model and its future development.
