Job Description

The Senior Staff Accountant will compile and analyze complex financial information for the organization within the Accounting and Reporting function. They will perform reconciliations of select accounts and assist with Global Financial Reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Supports Global Financial Reporting
  • Prepares journal entries and financial reports
  • Assists with interim and year-end audits, including preparing or reviewing audit schedules and following up directly with the audit team on inquiries
  • Develops recommendations to optimize the company's accounting systems, procedures, and close processes
  • Ensures that accounting procedures comply with GAAP
  • Prepares and/or reviews account reconciliations. Performs analysis on transactions and account reconciliations for various general ledger accounts. Proactively investigates and resolves any transaction inaccuracies or reconciling items in balance sheet accounts
  • Cross-trains on intercompany reconciliations, transfer pricing invoices, and intercompany invoicing.Providing back up support to the intercompany process, if needed
  • Supports implementation of system, tools, internal policies, and process improvements
  • Maintains required records, reports, and files in an organized manner
  • Assists more junior team members as needed
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Understands and applies US GAAP
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Understands internal controls and processes and has ability to make recommendations to improve current ways of working and procedures as a trusted business partner.
  • Good working knowledge of an ERP system, preferably SAP.
  • Proficient computer skills MS Office- Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook
  • Resourcefulness, innovative and creative thinking.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships through strong communication and provide guidance to internal partners.
  • Solid organizational skills.
  • Enthusiastic, positive person who embraces work with a sense of urgency and persistence.
  • Demonstrates an interest in and ability to continue to grow skills.
  • Ability to keep all sensitive matters confidential.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field required.
  • Three (3) to Five (5) years of accounting experience preferred.
  • At least 2 years of public accounting experience required.
  • An accounting certification (e.g., CPA, CIA) is preferred.
  • Some experience working with a Company with international operations preferred but not required

Travel Requirement

  • 0-5% domestic/global, as needed.

The salary range for this posted position is $63,000 - $78,000 (plus bonus & benefits) and pertains to candidates located in Western New York. Actual compensation is determined by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, education, essential job duties and requirements, and necessary experience.
