Job Summary

We are currently seeking a Structural Technician for our Rochester & Buffalo, NY offices. This position will work closely under the supervision of a Senior Structural Engineer/Buildings Structural Lead to develop concepts, strategies, designs, drawings, technical specifications, and reports. The Buildings Sector provides both architectural design and structural engineering services with emphasis on new design, repair and rehabilitation of constructed works, as well as investigation and performance evaluation.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Determine structural loading criteria, perform complex design calculations, and prepare written structural specifications.
  • Perform field investigations and document findings. Prepare draft engineering reports.
  • Work closely with other engineering and architectural disciplines.
  • Produce construction documents using Revit (BIM).
  • Review shop drawings, respond to RFI's and perform field observations during CA phase.

QUALIFICATIONS (INCLUDING EDUCATION and/or JOB EXPERIENCE):

  • Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with structural coursework.
  • Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) certification is required.
  • Master of Science degree in Structural Engineering is preferred.
  • 0 to 3 years of experience with concrete, steel, masonry, and/or wood design is required.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit and structural engineering design software (RISA, ETABs, SAP, and/or similar) is required.
  • High levels of integrity, always doing the right thing in an ethical, fair, and sustainable way.
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating in a diverse and inclusive team, working towards technical excellence.


Additional Information

TYLin is committed to pay equity. As part of that commitment, we have provided the base compensation range of $49,600- $90,000 annually for this position and local market.
